US Senate, PLEASE reject the UN CRPD! #UNCRPD

SOAPBOX (Photo credit: Shuttleworth Foundation)
Those of you that know me, know that I don't pull out the soapbox on political issues often. I'm more of a work behind the scenes person. But this one I can't stay quiet about.

This affects our family & many others you know. Members of my family have ADD, ADHD, Autism Spectrum (Aspergers, PDD), etc. These are all classified as disabilities. If the UN CRPD passes, UN law will, for the first time, supersede US law. UN delegates (that we don't elect and who don't answer to us) will be able to tell US citizens how to raise/school/medically treat our special needs family members, young or old. This includes homeschool vs public school, involuntary sterilization, residence programs, etc. What the UN thinks is best will rule the US on this issue. By voting for the UN CRPD, our elected officials are giving the UN the right to run our country in this area. The US already has laws to protect special needs citizens; we don't need the UN to dictate more. It is especially concerning as European countries are considering sterilization and/or abortion after positive Down Syndrome tests. If UN representatives from Europe agree with this practice, it could become UN rule. PLEASE research the UN CRPD, pray, and act! This article has links to the congressional directory so that you know how to call/tweet/email your senators. The vote is said to be this Tuesday. {putting soapbox away and wiping tears}
