Wow. I am sitting here in tears, again, instead of doing other things I should... I have been slapped in the face again by the situation of children in orphanages overseas. Children like...
Liliana,11 years old, 10 pounds.
Katerina, 9 years old, 11 pounds, 30 inches long.
Steven, 4 years old.
Keith, 3 years old.
And then I read this.
Because they have Downs, they live their lives in a crib. 11 years old and weighing 10 pounds because of malnourishment and neglect. God has brought these situations out in the open, so what do we do about it now? We at least need to pray and beg on their behalf. But are you meant to do more? Am I?
I volunteer in dog rescue, and the rescue community goes up in arms when finding out that a dog has been chained outside 24/7 with little access to food or shelter. How is this different? These kids have shelter, but little else.
Is it possible they haven't grown just because they don't have someone to rock them, spend time with them, say "I love you"?
My current foster beagle came to us as a malnourished, skin and bones, underdeveloped pup. Why should these children be left as they are? Who is up in arms for them? Who is rescuing them?
“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’”
